Our star cars of the #ClassicMotorShow #2: Matra Murena

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show is the biggest event in the UK Classic Car calendar. Good Shout Media popped along to the NEC to pick out some of the cars that WE liked at this years show; not because they’re expensive, or historically significant, or rare… just because we think they’re pretty darn cool…

#2 – Matra Murena

We love it when a car stops us in our tracks. Catching sight of the Matra Murena, we had one of those ‘what the heck is that’ moments.

One closer inspection, and after speaking with one of the members of the Matra Owners Club, we learned that the car in question was a Matra Murena.

Made for 3 years from 1980-1983, the Matra Murena is a mid-engined fibreglass bodied sports hatch based on a galvanised chasis. Do you know what that means? No rust!

The unique selling point of the Murena is the three seat configuration, which means 3 adults can be seated comfortably for long jaunts down the French coast.

Perhaps it was because we’d spent 5 hours walking around the NEC, but when we found the Matra Murena we couldn’t help noticing that those seats looked a divine place to spend some time.

The angular lines of the Murena and the fact that it’s rare and obscure make it a definite edition to our ‘Star Cars’ round up.
