The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show is the biggest event in the UK Classic Car calendar. Good Shout Media popped along to the NEC to pick out some of the cars that WE liked at this years show; not because they’re expensive, or historically significant, or rare… just because we think they’re pretty darn cool…
#1 – 1970 Mercury Colony Park
Gary Nutton’s Mercury is quite a machine.
We didn’t have a tape measure, but if we had to guess we’d peg this one at about 800ft long from stern to aft.
Packing a 7.0 litre engine and an actual tree on each side, this American monster can hit 0-60mph in less than 9 seconds.
With acres of leather and a bench seat up front, the Colony Park looks like the perfect long distance road trip wagon.
Amazingly, this one owner car has only covered 54,000 miles from new, and other than some basic recommissioning was presented ‘as is’ at the NEC Classic Motor Show in November 2014.
The Mercury Colony Park is one of the finalists in the Footman James Car of the Year 2014 Competition which the specialist insurer is running in association with Classic American Magazine.
