You’re never too old for diecast cars. You can call them toys, or models, or collectibles, or a hobby, but either way – we still think they’re awesome. We always sneak a cheeky look at the Hotwheels or Matchbox cars in supermarkets or whilst out and about, and have a particular preference for anything Porsche. Here’s a few we’ve rounded up so far:

Matchbox Porsche Boxster, Hotwheels Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Hotwheels Porsche Cayman, Realtoy Porsche Panamera Turbo
Although I’d normally be a Hotwheels or Matchbox only kinda person, the Realtoy Panamera s actually very good. Overall the shape of it is fantastic, though it needs some bigger profile wheels to really compete with the Hotwheels and Matchbox versions of Porsche cars.
The GT3 and Cayman are fantastic little replicas, and the Matchbox is also a good replication of the real thing.
The GT2 is fantastically detailed and sits at the right height, it’s in proportion and we really can’t pick many faults with this incarnation of the 911 from Hotwheels
The 911 Turbo (996) from Matchbox is looking a little tired and chipped… I never liked these wheels that Matchbox came out with, and the roofline seems to have taken a knock at some point in it’s life. Not exactly ‘One Careful Owner’!
Matchbox really made up for the 996 with this GT3, it looks accurate in the black and white and the metal spoiler is a neat touch. They got the wheels right this time, too – an area that so many diecast manufacturers screw up on!
I believe this Corgi Porsche 911 SC Targa actually came in a McDonalds Happy Meal more than 20 years ago, but can’t really remember. All I know is that it’s been knocking around with my various posessions for a very, very long time, hence the missing windscreen and general wear and tear… It’s been trodden on a few times as well, the frame for the rear glass is bent and the rear glass is almost popping out. Still, I’m not throwing it out, because I’ve owned it so long. I kinda like it that way!
I actually have a collection of 1:18 diecast cars at home!
