If we’re honest, you should probably be avoiding all types of cons. But, car cons have to be the absolute worst. Besides buying a house, buying a car is one of the most expensive things that you can do, and the process doesn’t really come around too often! However, would you be able to confidently say that you know when you’re being conned with your car? We can confidently say that most of you don’t. The bad thing about car dealerships is that they really do have the gift of the gab. They’re most likely going to be able to talk to you about anything and everything, and with that they’ll be able to sell you a lie. If you’re not sure what you’re looking out for, we’ve got some tips for you!
Good Quality Vs Bad
You should already be fully aware that there are good quality cars out there, and there are some really terrible ones. If you’re looking for something good, then you’re best off going to a trusted dealer, such as Saxton 4×4. Somewhere that you know has trusted reviews, and you know you’re going to get a good deal from. If you just go to a random garage that looks a bit seedy, then we can almost guarantee you’re going to get ripped off. Those are the dealers that only want one thing, and that’s your money. They’re most likely going to have spent a couple of hundred on a car, and will attempt to sell it to you for a couple of thousand. It’s the cars that look a little run down that you want to watch out for. Don’t get us wrong, they could work perfectly fine. But they could also be a piece of scrap metal that’s going to fall apart a few weeks after you buy it.
Are They Just Talking The Talk?
We’re going to go out on a limb here, and say yes, they’re most likely just talking the talk. As we’ve said, these people are gifted with being able to sell you anything they want, and that’s exactly what they’re going to try and do. Things you want to watch out for are avoidance of your questions about anything you notice out of place, and excessive use of the phrase, ‘good cheap car’. This only means that there’s something wrong with it somewhere, but for a cheap car, it’s good. The avoidance of your queries should however be a big warning sign for you!
If you’re ever worried about the price of a car, then you’re probably being conned. You’ve got one end of the stick, where an older looking car, but still decent looking, is being sold for dirt cheap. If it’s being sold for dirt cheap without any faults, then let us tell you, there are going to be faults. You’ve also got to watch out for old cars that are being sold for a fortune. There might not be anything wrong with it, but you’re definitely going to be conned in terms of the money you’re paying for an older car.
Make sure you avoid these car cons at all costs, always stick to a trusted dealer, and you can’t really go wrong!
